Great pics of ex Yankees – Sal Fasano
March 5, 2008Joba vs. Moose
March 5, 2008With Joba giving up two runs in two innings tonight(7-5 loss to Twins), it should be safe to assume that the same people who jumped all over Mike Mussina after his poor spring training outing will do the same to Joba – i somehow doubt that will happen. Apparently after 24 sensational innings at the tail end of last year, Joba has earned the right to be a little rusty in spring. The same respect is not being afforded to Mike Mussina, as he, and his 250 career wins with a 3.70 ERA, has clearly not bought him any leniency amongst some ‘fans’.
Game notes – Shelley hit another dinger, Cano raised his ST average to .700, Jeter went 2/2 and Edwar Ramirez did his best Kyle Farnsworth impression, giving up a lot of runs in a short space of time. Hopefully in a couple of weeks some of the bullpen guys will start to look like capable big leaguers.
Yankee Stadium retrospective
March 5, 2008Yankees.com has announced that an official Yankee Stadium retrospective will be released later in the month.
I’m sure it’ll be one of many released through the year, but with the promise of plenty of stadium pictures, including previously unseen ones, I’m sure this will be a must-purchase for many. I know I’ll be looking to get a copy!
Lefty specialist from left-field???
March 5, 2008Depending on the form of others, it may be the only way he can get onto the active roster in the Majors, but going by what the throwaway comments at the bottom of this article from the NY Times says, perhaps we could make a case for Jason Lane as a lefty specialist……
Hell, Igawa is a contender for the role, so surely anyone with an arm that can rotate should be somewhere on the depth chart!?
At least the fact that he’d be pitching on 10 years rest would surely keep him from suffering the burnout that some of the team’s relievers have fallen victim to over recent years…..
p.s. Of course neither of us are actually advocating using Lane in the ‘pen…..but this just goes to show that the Kei to finding a new lefty specialist for the ‘pen could come from down a whole other Lane…
Great news on Bobby Murcer
March 5, 2008As reported on 1010WINS and by Joe Girardi on the ESPN broadcast of the game this evening, Bobby Murcer has been given a clean bill of health following his recent scan. The area that was concerning the doctors has turned out to just be scar tissue remaining from the procedures he went through.
As I’m sure you’ll all agree, this is great news, and we look forward to hearing Bobby back in the broadcast booth soon!
