Don’t worry – We haven’t disappeared!

April 17, 2008

Jeez it’s been a while since we’ve posted! Damn job and university stuff getting in the way of baseball….. Plus, all these evening games are a killer for us folks that have to sit up till 2/3/4am watching a game, then trying to act remotely human through the day (although PH34 does a good job of ignoring the human bit more often than most…)

Some good news this evening in that it seems that Harlan Chamberlain is getting better. Still no timetable on when Joba will be likely to return, but at a time like this, he’s got to be with his family. In light of what’s been happening over the past few days, both of us have been talking about how great this piece from SI a few months back is. Absolutely superb reading.

On another note – It seems like today will have been a bad one for the Taiwan Stock Exchange….After all, according to this SI piece (again, some very good editorial content from SI again…..and no, sadly we’re not on commission…) he has such a big influence in his home nation that he can influence the stocks and shares just by throwing a baseball! Crazy stuff!

Another random find of mine this evening is this Sportscenter advert clip from Youtube…. I have no idea when it’s from, or if it’s been aired, but it still made me laugh. Yeah, Papi is “the enemy”, but he does seem a pretty good guy. We won’t go into any detail on the various nicknames the pair of us have been coming up with for Sawx players yet….some of them are perhaps a bit crude for pre-watershed reading!

Anyway, I’ve rambled on long enough…..I’ll leave you with this nice little statistic from last night’s Baseball Tonight…. The fastest ever 9 inning game in MLB history lasted 51 mins…… Last night’s 5th inning lasted 50. Almost unbelievable, but then again, these days it seems to be the norm in Yankee – Sawx games.

p.s. OK – he might not have done his usual homerun trot tonight, but what the hell was Manny pointing to in the outfield as he rounded the bases!? Ah well…..as I type that he bombs his second….. Why the hell are the pitchers still pitching to him just now – it’s not even funny any more!
